A special ceremony was held today at the National Disaster Management Centre, chaired by National Disaster Relief Services Secretary Mr. K.G Dharmathilaka, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Sri Lanka’s disaster response infrastructure. The event was attended by Senior Lecturer Mr. Suraj Jayathilaka, representing the University of Vocational Technology, and Mr. Anil Perera, representing the ALTEA Association, along with key officials and stakeholders.

In a significant step towards enhancing technological infrastructure for national disaster response, 100 laptops were donated to the National Disaster Management Centre under the theme “Tech Mission to Sri Lanka.”

This important initiative was made possible through the collaboration of Findex Australia, the ALTEA Association, and the University of Vocational Technology.

The donation is aimed at supporting the National Disaster Management Centre’s operations across all 25 districts of Sri Lanka, strengthening digital connectivity, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing emergency response capabilities.

Representatives from the collaborating organisations highlighted that this partnership reflects a strong commitment to advancing Sri Lanka’s technological capacity and ensuring that critical public service institutions are equipped with the necessary digital tools for efficient service delivery.

The donated laptops are expected to significantly improve communication systems, data coordination, and disaster response management throughout the country, enabling faster and more effective responses during emergencies and natural disasters.

This milestone reflects the shared vision of Findex Australia, the ALTEA Association, and the University of Vocational Technology in contributing to Sri Lanka’s digital transformation and national development through technology-driven collaboration.
